Bitcoin drops to USD 84,000 and hundreds of millions are liquidated

Around 14:15 UTC, USD 157 million in long positions were liquidated in 15 minutes. Shortly after, another post put the figure at USD 230 million in the past hour. Both figures circulated on X.

According to K33, cited by The Block, bitcoin ETPs just had their largest daily inflow since November 2024. Bitcoin had touched USD 86,000 for the first time since January.

On Friday at 8:00 UTC, bitcoin options worth USD 15.9 billion and ether options worth USD 2.1 billion expire on Deribit, according to CoinDesk. Bitcoin's put/call ratio is 0.69 and the "max pain" price is USD 75,000.
